Life is not a popularity contest,
though popular people can sell their souls
to the highest bidder.
It’s easy to go off track, to conform
to rules of popularity or
to become a troll, criticizing
that which taps on our insecurities.
Give to society what to society belongs,
that is, the necessary importance,
but try to elevate yourself above,
not because you’re superior
but because you simply and utterly
need it for sanity.
