Ethical riddle – maxims

A smart man knows his surroundings

a wise man knows himself,

a stupid man knows nothing

and is the happier for that.

A braveheart gives his life to win a war,

a coward loses a war to save his life,

a man with no loyalty never wins a war,

because he wastes his time not losing.

A moral man doesn’t do what he shouldn’t,

an ethical man does what he should,

a soulless man follows his heart,

accomodating morality and ethics to his taste.

*

A selfish man hurts others for his gain,

a selfless man hurts himself to help others,

a man with no self hurts himself

and others around him.

*

A loving man always finds excuses to keep going,

a loveless man always finds excuses to desist,

a cheater can’t find an excuse to desist,

so he keeps going lovelessly.
