The book of John Doe

What, under the disguise of your delirium, seemed to be a lone dromedary now reveals itself as a caravan—likely traders, judging by the clatter of metal goods you hear growing louder and louder. Too late to challenge your instincts now. You try to outrun the man silhouetted against the blowing sand, heading for your means of salvation. You grab the reins and attempt a jump onto the animal’s back, but to no avail. These majestic creatures weren’t born for such an easy means of subjugation. The dromedary remains impassive before your feeble attempts, but the man doesn’t. He unsheathes a sword and holds it up to your nose.

– Stop right there! That is, if you don’t want to give me a legitimate reason to kill you.

A second is all it takes for you to know what you must do.
