Ortipo: The Legend of the Singing Headphones

Ortipo was a small bird that lived in a large, musical forest long ago. He was remarkably loud. Ortipo had no such thing as control, he sang from sunrise to sunset and even in the moonlight, while most birds were happy to sing only throughout the day. He could wake sleeping bears, make fish jump out of lakes, and once even send a passing wizard’s hat flying off his head with the power of his songs.

Despite he’s initial amusement, the other animals quickly became tired of Ortipo’s constant singing. “My dear Ortipo, we adore your voice, but do you really have to sing all the time?” a tired old owl who hadn’t slept for three weeks asked.

“I have to!” Ortipo shouted with enthusiasm. “Life is music, and music is life! My songs should be heard by everyone, forever and ever!

One day, an artful forest spirit named Evra noticed Ortipo’s endless singing. She came before him, amused. She smiled nicely and said, “Little bird, if you want everyone in the world to hear you, I’m happy to help.”

“Are you really going to do this for me?!” Ortipo gave an excited chirp. “Please, make me the world’s loudest singer!”

Evra used her wand and transformed Ortipo into a modern, fashionable pair of headphones. He could now share his melodies with eager listeners around the world, rather than wearing out the woodland creatures with his endless singing.

At first, Ortipo was confused. But when the first human placed him over their ears and pressed play, he realized his dream had come true. He could now sing directly into people’s minds, bringing music to everyone who wore him! To this day, it is said that if you listen closely to your headphones, you might hear a tiny voice between songs, whispering, “More music! More music!” That, dear listener, is none other than Ortipo, still living his dream of singing forever and making sure the world never has to endure a moment of silence.
